AB1265 approved by Assembly, Senate

California Latino Water Coalition (CLWC) members joined Assembly Member Anna M.Caballero, Senator Gil Cedillo and other legislators in support of AB126. The measure postponed the water bond ballot measure slated for the November 2010 ballot to the November 2012 general election because of the continuing recession and state budget crisis and to discuss the need for this bipartisan effort to continue. AB1265 was approved by the Assembly and Senate. It has been signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger.

Latino Water Coalition Is Disappointed With Delay

Will Continue Fight For State Water Bond Passage

California Latino Water Coalition (CLWC) members are disappointed Governor
Schwarzenegger’s request made June 29 for the Legislature to delay the scheduled
$11.14 billion water bond election from November until 2012 but they understand why
the Governor and several legislators have taken the action. A number of Coalition members
discussed the situation July 1 during a news conference in Fresno that followed a Town Hall
meeting conducted by the Governor.

Latino Water Coalition Member Is Sworn In As Water Commissioner During Fresno Ceremony

California Latino Water Coalition (CLWC) member Joe Del Bosque was sworn in June 11 as
the newest California Water Commission member during a Fresno ceremony sponsored
by the California Latino Water Coalition. Del Bosque, a western San Joaquin Valley
grower who lives in Los Banos, is a CLWC member.
